Cross the Equator, witness the Rwenzori Mountains, Ngorongoro Crater, Murchison Falls, Rift Valley escarpments, and active volcanoes on a guided geological adventure with midrange lodges and expert insights<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 1: Kampala\/Entebbe \u2192 Fort Portal \u2013 Crater Lakes &amp; Rwenzori Views<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pick up from Kampala or Entebbe early in the morning and drive to Fort Portal via the main highway. On the way, stop at the <strong>Equator<\/strong> for a short geological demonstration. Fort Portal lies close to the western Rift Valley and offers spectacular views of the <strong>Rwenzori Mountains<\/strong>, the \u201cMountains of the Moon.\u201d In the afternoon, explore Kyaninga Crater Lake and Ndali\u2013Kasenda Crater Field to study volcanic formations, lava terraces, and fault lines. Overnight at <strong>Crater Safari Lodge<\/strong> or <strong>Tooro Botanical Gardens Guest House<\/strong>. Approximate drive: 5\u20136 hours with stops.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 2: Fort Portal \u2192 Semuliki National Park \u2013 Hot Springs &amp; Rift Geology<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After breakfast, drive northwest to Semuliki National Park along accessible roads, taking about 2.5\u20133 hours. Visit <strong>Sempaya Hot Springs<\/strong> to observe geothermal activity, hydrothermal vents, and mineral deposits. Explore the Semuliki River floodplains to study sedimentation and escarpments associated with rifting. Overnight at <strong>Semliki Safari Lodge<\/strong> or <strong>Toro-Semliki Guest Cottages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 3: Semuliki \u2192 Murchison Falls \u2013 Nile Gorge Exploration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Drive east toward Murchison Falls National Park, following main roads with a total drive of about 5\u20136 hours. Visit Murchison Falls, where the Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge, exposing Precambrian rock formations and showing river incision and tectonic uplift. Take a short boat cruise to the base of the falls for closer observation of sedimentary layers. Drive back to Entebbe for overnight in preparation for the next day\u2019s flight to Tanzania. Overnight in Entebbe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 4: Entebbe \u2192 Arusha \u2192 Lake Manyara<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Take an early morning flight to Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport. From Arusha, drive 2\u20133 hours along good tarmac roads to Lake Manyara. Explore the alkaline soda lake, Rift Valley escarpment, fault scarps, and volcanic ash deposits. Walk along the escarpment for geological observations. Overnight at <strong>Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge<\/strong> or <strong>Manyara Wildlife Safari Lodge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 5: Lake Manyara \u2192 Ngorongoro Crater \u2192 Nairobi (Kenya)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Drive about 2 hours from Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Crater. Study the caldera formed by a collapsed supervolcano, observing lava flows, tuff layers, and stratified volcanic deposits. After crater exploration, drive to the Namanga border and enter Kenya, continuing to Nairobi along good road networks. Overnight in <strong>Ibis Styles Nairobi Westlands<\/strong> or <strong>Eka Hotel Nairobi<\/strong>. Total drive: ~5\u20136 hours from crater to Nairobi including border crossing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 6: Nairobi \u2192 Great Rift Valley &amp; Volcanic Sites \u2192 Nairobi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Drive 1.5\u20132 hours to the Great Rift Valley escarpment to observe fault lines and rift structures. Visit <strong>Hell\u2019s Gate National Park<\/strong> for volcanic plugs, lava flows, gorges, and geothermal vents, or hike Mount Longonot crater rim. Return to Nairobi in the late afternoon. Overnight in Nairobi.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 7: Nairobi \u2013 Departure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After breakfast, transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure, concluding the seven-day geological road safari.<\/p>\n<p>End of your Safari.
