Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park.
Your 2 Days Murchison Falls Safari will start at 6.30 am.
Your tour driver/guide will pick you up from your place of stay in Kampala and take you on a drive of approximately 5 hours northwest to Murchison Falls National Park. You’ll drive past vibrant roadside markets, quite rural villages and the impressive landscapes of Nakasongola district.
On arrival, you will top of Murchison Falls and marvel at world’s strongest waterfalls.
They are not very big or wide like some you may have seen before. But think of the world’s longest river which is about 50m wide crashing through an 8 m rocky gap, forcing in it some 300 cubic meters of water per second before plunging 43m below. It is a truly magical sight!
After this amazing activity, you will connect to Paraa Jetty to catch up with relaxing afternoon 3-hour boat cruise to the bottom of the falls.
This is surely the highlight of any Uganda tour to Murchison Falls Park.
It’s an absolute must-do! The cruise gently takes you along an archetypically African stretch of the Nile, fringed by Borassus palms, acacia woodland, and mahogany trees, before finally docking a few meters away from the thundering falls, where you will stop for some great photo opportunities.
You’ll view huge Nile crocodiles basking in the sun as they lie in wait for the unsuspecting Antelope that wanders to the river for a drink. You see many hippos, elephants, buffaloes, and waterbucks.
You’ll also see l00s of birds, including brightly-coloured Bee-eaters, Spoonbills, Herons, Kingfishers, Fish eagles, and if you’re very lucky -you can even see the prehistoric-looking Shoebill.
Retreat from the activity and connect to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Over 450 species of Uganda birds have been recorded in the park, including incredible Shoebills, the rare Pel’s Fishing Owl, Saddle-billed Stork, Grey crowned cranes, African Dwarf Kingfisher, Goliath Heron, Ground Hornbill, Whistling Cisticola, to name just a few. After the game drive, you’ll leave for Kampala.
You will stop over at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Here, you will be welcomed and taken to the wild on foot to track the white Rhinos.
You will have the opportunity to encounter Uganda’s only wild Rhinos that were reintroduced in the year 2005 following their extinction in the year 1982.
Trekking the 32 southern white Rhinos that thrive in their natural savannah thicket as you walk past beautiful flora, amazing landscapes and birds presents a rewarding encounter that is worth undertaking.
