Day 1: Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Bwindi
Your fantastic 3 Day Gorilla Trekking Uganda safari starts today!
Your tour driver guide shall pick you up from pre-tour accommodation in Kampala or Entebbe at 7.30 am. From there, you will embark on a scenic drive of about (520km) 8-9 hours southwest to the great Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
You will pass via the Masaka-Mbarara Road. After driving for about 2 hours (77km), you make a stop at the Uganda Equator line at Kayabwe to take photographs of the crossing, stretch our legs and enjoy some snacks.
Then, continue your drive, making another stop for lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara, the largest urban center in western Uganda.
Igongo is a huge commercial enterprise with conference facilities, a five star hotel, a top restaurant, craft centers and shops, and luckily also one of the best museums in all of Uganda. After lunch, you will continue on your way Bwindi Forest.
About Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Covering an area of 321km2, Bwindi is one of the oldest forests in Africa lasting over 25,000 years.
The park hosts about 459 individual gorillas, known as the Bwindi population, which makes up almost half of the world’s Mountain Gorillas population.
Aside from the mountain gorilla, Bwindi is home to 9 other primates such as the red-tailed monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons, colobus monkeys among others.
This forest is also home to 120 mammals, 51 reptiles, 310 species of montane butterflies, 27 species of frogs, geckos, chameleons, 163 tree species, 104 fern species, 1000 flowering plants, as well as over 351 bird species, including 23 Albertine Rift Endemics.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Cultural Experience.
Gorilla trekking is the highlight of visiting Uganda, if not Africa.
Your day two of the 3 Day Gorilla Trekking Uganda safari tour will begin with an early morning breakfast at around 6.00 am.
You’ll then have your packed lunch and transfer to the park offices at 7.00 am for registration and briefing from the expert local ranger guides. At 8.00, you embark on a on the once-in-a-lifetime experience of trekking mountain gorillas in the wild.
You trek through the lush flora of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for in search of one the 20 habituated mountain gorilla families in Bwindi.
This gorilla trek can be relatively tiresome, taking about 2 to 7 hours so a reasonable degree of fitness and strong pair of hiking shoes is needed.
However, the thrill of encountering these gentle giants in their natural habitat is well worth.
After finding the gorillas, you spend a maximum of 1 (one) hour observing them feed, groom, play, and interact with each other.
You get to hear the gorillas communicating with one another and marvel at the sheer size of the Silverback, the dominant adult male gorilla.
Although the gorillas will be the highlight, other wildlife that you may be fortunate enough to encounter on the trek include Duikers, Chameleons, Guereza, L’Hoest’s, Blue and Red-tailed Monkey, several species of squirrels, unique birds, and a dazzling array colorful butterflies.
After this life-changing gorilla trekking experience, you will enjoy your packed picnic lunch in the lush rainforest and return to the starting point to receive our gorilla trekking certificate.
You then continue to your lodge for relaxation as you reflect on your thrilling gorilla encounter.
In the evening you have an opportunity to discover the traditional hunter-gatherer life of the Batwa People who lived peaceful with the giant gorillas for over 1000 years until they were evicted to conserve the endangered Mountain Gorillas.
You can also opt to visit tea plantations or learn about the community’s impressive hospital that started as a small clinic under a tree.

Day 3: Drive Back To Kampala/Entebbe.
After an early breakfast on the final day of your 3 Day Gorilla Trekking Uganda safari tour, you will check out and say goodbye to the friendly staff at the lodge.
You then lave the lush montane rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park behind and embark on your back to Kampala or Entebbe city
You will pass the rolling with terraces and quite rural villages of Uganda as reflect on a newfound awareness of Uganda’s precious wildlife inhabitants and welcoming local people.
While Uganda may have a fractured history, it has taken great strides in conservation, with ecotourism lodges playing an important role in bolstering efforts among communities to preserve and protect the rainforest.
You will have a lunch break at Igongo Cultural Centre and another stop at Mpambire drum makers point. Here, you can buy some of these drums, before continuing to Kampala or Entebbe arriving in late afternoon.
