This 3 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Tour in Africa takes you straight from Kampala or Entebbe into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for a face to face encounter with mountain gorillas, paired with an afternoon among the Batwa, the forest's original inhabitants.
It's the most popular short gorilla safari for travelers flying into Entebbe who want the full Bwindi experience, gorillas and culture together, without needing a week off.
Day 1: Drive from Kampala/Entebbe to Bwindi
Depart Kampala or Entebbe early in the morning, ideally by 6:00 AM, for the 8 to 10 hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The route follows the Kampala-Masaka-Mbarara-Kabale highway, with a stop at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe for photos, and further stops for lunch and fuel along the way.
The final stretch into Bwindi's Buhoma sector runs through the Kigezi highlands, past Lake Bunyonyi, with the road transitioning from tarmac to murram for the last section. Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon or early evening, check in, and relax before an early night.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Pygmies Cultural Experience
After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for the ranger briefing, typically starting around 7:00 to 8:00 AM, where trekking groups are assigned their gorilla family. The trek can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours through dense rainforest, followed by a strictly enforced hour in the gorillas' company. Check our gorilla trekking packing list before you go, since the terrain is steep and often muddy.
Most treks in Buhoma wrap up by early afternoon, leaving time to return to the lodge for lunch before heading out for the Batwa Cultural Experience. Guided by Batwa elders, the visit covers traditional hunting and fire-making demonstrations, music, storytelling, and a look at how the Batwa lived in the forest before Bwindi became a national park.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and a well-earned rest.

Day 3: Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe
After breakfast, begin the drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, retracing the route through Kabale, Mbarara, and Masaka. Stop along the way for lunch and photo breaks, arriving back in Kampala or at Entebbe International Airport in the evening.
