Our 2-Day Rwenzori Mountains Trek takes you into the foothills of the legendary "Mountains of the Moon," reaching an altitude of 2,596 meters without requiring the technical experience or extended time commitment of a full summit expedition. Here's how the two days unfold.

Itinerary
Day 1: Kilembe Trailhead to Sine Hut. After an early breakfast, meet your mountain guide and porters at the Rwenzori Trekking Services base in Kilembe, near Kasese, for a briefing and final gear check. Begin your hike through cultivated foothills and into montane forest, where the trail steepens gradually as you climb through changing vegetation zones. Keep an eye out for blue monkeys, colourful forest birds, and, if you're fortunate, the elusive Rwenzori duiker along the way. Arrive at Sine Hut in the early afternoon, set at an elevation offering sweeping views back over the Kasese valley. Rest, enjoy a hot meal prepared by your trek crew, and settle in for an early night ahead of tomorrow's return.
Day 2: Sine Hut to Summit Point at 2,596 Meters, then Descent. Set out early to make the final push to your highest point of the trek at 2,596 meters, where the forest gives way to increasingly dramatic mountain scenery and, on a clear day, distant views of the Rwenzori's higher, snow-capped peaks. After taking in the views and a well-earned rest at the top, begin your descent back through Sine Hut and down to the Kilembe trailhead, arriving in the late afternoon in time for a shower, a hot meal, and a well-deserved rest.
