Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe to Lake Mburo National Park. Your driver-guide picks you up early from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe for the drive southwest to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda's most accessible savanna park. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive across the park's rolling grasslands, keeping an eye out for zebra, eland, impala, and buffalo, species found here that aren't seen anywhere else on the standard gorilla trekking route. Settle in for dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 2: Lake Mburo Boat Cruise and Transfer to Bwindi. Start the morning with an optional boat cruise on Lake Mburo, a peaceful way to see hippos, crocodiles, and water birds before continuing your journey. After breakfast, begin the scenic drive further southwest to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, passing through Uganda's terraced hillsides and rural countryside along the way. Arrive at your Bwindi lodge in the afternoon, with the evening free to rest ahead of tomorrow's trek. Dinner and overnight in Bwindi.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for your 7:30am briefing, where rangers assign you to a gorilla family based on group size and fitness level. Trek through Bwindi's dense, ancient rainforest in search of your assigned gorilla family, a hike that can take anywhere from one to eight hours depending on the family's location that morning. Once found, spend a profound hour observing the gorillas feeding, playing, and interacting in their natural habitat, before making your way back to the trailhead. Return to your lodge for a well-earned rest, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 4: Departure to Kampala/Entebbe. After breakfast, begin the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the evening in time for your onward travel or departure flight.
