Uganda luxury safaris combine three things few countries can offer in one trip: face-to-face time with wild mountain gorillas, chimpanzee trekking in ancient rainforest and classic big game drives on open savannah. Add private guides, short scenic flights and intimate lodges with only a handful of rooms, and you have one of Africa's most rewarding high-end journeys.
At Tulambule Uganda Safaris, a licensed Kampala-based operator since 2014, we design every luxury safari in Uganda around you. Whether it is a romantic honeymoon, a photographic trip or a family holiday, we handle the permits, flights, lodges and guides so you can simply enjoy it.

Why Choose Uganda Luxury Safaris?
Uganda is home to about half of the world's mountain gorillas, and a gorilla permit here costs US$800, compared with US$1,500 in Rwanda. That makes Uganda luxury safaris excellent value at the top end, because the money goes into experiences rather than permit fees alone.
Uganda's parks also stay quiet. You will not find long lines of safari vehicles here. Most lodges have fewer than a dozen rooms, so your stay feels personal, and your private driver-guide can adjust the day around your interests.
Finally, the variety is hard to match. In one or two weeks you can trek gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, follow chimpanzees in Kibale, see tree-climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth and cruise the Nile to the foot of Murchison Falls.

Signature Experiences on Uganda Luxury Safaris
Private Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Gorilla trekking is the reason most travellers book Uganda luxury safaris. Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers lead small groups of up to 8 people to a habituated gorilla family, and you spend one unforgettable hour watching them feed, play and rest.
Many of our luxury guests trek twice, because every gorilla family is different. For a longer encounter, the gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi's Rushaga sector gives you up to four hours with a family that is still getting used to people. It costs US$1,500, rising to US$1,800 from January 2027. Compare both in our guide to gorilla habituation vs gorilla trekking.
Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest
Kibale Forest National Park has one of the highest densities of primates in Africa, including about 1,500 chimpanzees. A morning chimp trek costs US$250 and is a lively contrast to the calm of the gorillas. Read more about chimpanzee trekking in Uganda.
Game Drives and Boat Cruises in Queen Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth National Park delivers the classic savannah side of a luxury Uganda safari: elephants, buffalo, lions and leopards. A boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel brings you close to hippos and waterbirds, and the Ishasha sector is famous for its tree-climbing lions.
The Nile and Murchison Falls
In Murchison Falls National Park, a boat cruise takes you up the Nile to the foot of the falls, where the river forces its way through a narrow gorge. Game drives on the northern bank add giraffes, elephants and lions.
Remote Wilderness in Kidepo Valley
For travellers who want true solitude, Kidepo Valley National Park in the far northeast is one of Africa's most remote parks. It is best reached by a charter flight and pairs perfectly with a gorilla trek.
Fly-In Safaris: Less Driving, More Time
Uganda's roads are scenic but long. On a fly-in luxury safari, short scheduled or charter flights link Entebbe with airstrips near Bwindi, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls and Kidepo. You save whole days of driving and arrive rested. Domestic flights usually allow about 15 kg per person in soft bags, so pack light.
Private Experiences and Fine Dining
What sets Uganda luxury safaris apart is the personal touch. You can book a private guided nature walk in Bwindi, a sundowner on a hilltop above Lake Mburo, or a bush breakfast after an early game drive in Queen Elizabeth.
Many lodges grow their own vegetables and serve fresh Ugandan dishes alongside international menus, often by candlelight on a terrace. Tell us about any dietary needs, special occasions or surprises, and we will arrange them with the lodge before you arrive.

Where You Stay on Uganda Luxury Safaris
The lodges are a big part of what makes Uganda luxury safaris special. Most are small, owner-run or boutique properties set right on the edge of the parks, with fine food and attentive service. These are some of our favourites. For the full list, see our guide to luxury accommodation in Uganda.
Bwindi: Buhoma Lodge and Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp
Both sit in the Buhoma sector, a short walk from the gorilla trekking briefing point. Buhoma Lodge has forest-facing chalets with a warm lounge and fireplace, while Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp offers spacious tents inside the forest, where gorilla families sometimes pass through. Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge is another excellent choice nearby.

Mgahinga: Mount Gahinga Lodge
Mount Gahinga Lodge sits at the foot of the Virunga volcanoes, on the edge of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. It is a peaceful base for gorilla and golden monkey trekking, with stone-and-thatch bandas facing the volcanoes.
Kibale: Crater Safari Lodge and Primate Lodge
Crater Safari Lodge overlooks the calm waters of a crater lake near Kibale, while Primate Lodge sits inside the forest, just steps from the chimpanzee trekking start point.
Queen Elizabeth: Kyambura Gorge Lodge and Elephant Plains Lodge
Kyambura Gorge Lodge stands above the forested Kyambura Gorge, home to a small chimpanzee community, with wide views over the park's plains. Elephant Plains Lodge is a stylish alternative close to the Kazinga Channel.
Lake Mburo: Mihingo Lodge
Mihingo Lodge has tented rooms on wooden platforms looking over the valley and a waterhole. It is a relaxing stop on the way to or from Bwindi, with game drives, boat trips, walking safaris and horseback rides.

Kidepo: Apoka Safari Lodge
Apoka Safari Lodge stands on a rocky ridge overlooking a busy waterhole in Kidepo Valley. Its natural rock pool and open-sided rooms make it one of the most memorable stays on any luxury Uganda safari.
Jinja and Entebbe: Wildwaters Lodge and Hotel No.5
Lemala Wildwaters Lodge has 10 suites on a private island in the Nile, reached only by boat. Near the airport, Hotel No.5 in Entebbe is a stylish boutique hotel for your first or last night.

How Much Do Uganda Luxury Safaris Cost?
Uganda luxury safaris usually start from about US$600 per person per day, based on two people sharing. The final price depends on your lodges, how many nights you stay, whether you fly or drive, and how many gorilla or chimp permits you need.
As a guide, our sample 15-day route across Murchison Falls, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi and Lake Mburo costs US$9,200 to US$10,500 per person at luxury level. A 3-day fly-in gorilla safari is a shorter, simpler option.
A luxury safari price normally includes:
- Luxury lodges with all meals, and often local drinks
- A private 4x4 safari vehicle with an English-speaking driver-guide, or domestic flights
- Park entry fees, boat cruises and guided activities
- Gorilla permits (US$800 each) and chimpanzee permits (US$250 in Kibale)
- Airport transfers and 24-hour support from our Kampala team
Not usually included are international flights, visas, travel insurance and tips. As a guide, many guests give their driver-guide US$10 to 20 per day from the group, and lodge staff US$5 to 10 per guest per night. See our guide to tipping in Uganda and current Uganda national park fees.
A Typical Day on a Luxury Uganda Safari
On a savannah day, you wake before sunrise with coffee brought to your room, then head out on a morning game drive when the predators are most active. You return to the lodge for a late breakfast, a swim or a massage during the midday heat.
In the afternoon you set out again, perhaps on a boat cruise or a second game drive, before sundowners and a candlelit dinner. Your guide adjusts the timing to suit you, which is one of the joys of Uganda luxury safaris.
Forest days are different. You leave after an early breakfast for gorilla or chimp trekking, which can take from 2 to 8 hours, and return for a late lunch. The rest of the day is yours to relax, visit a local community or enjoy a spa treatment.
Best Time for Uganda Luxury Safaris
The best time for Uganda luxury safaris is during the two dry seasons, from December to February and from June to September. Trails in the forests are firmer and animals gather near water, which makes game viewing easier.
Uganda sits on the equator, so Uganda luxury safaris run all year and the weather stays pleasant. The wetter months of April, May and November are green and quiet, and gorilla permits drop to US$600 per person. Read our full guide to the best time to visit Uganda.
Who Are Uganda Luxury Safaris For?
- Honeymooners: private dinners, island and forest lodges, and a once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trek. See our Uganda honeymoon holidays.
- Families: children under 15 cannot trek gorillas, but they can enjoy game drives, boat cruises and community visits. Read about gorilla trekking with children.
